A table’s appearance is only one part of the purchase. The slate, supporting frame, cushions, cloth and installation work together to shape its playing characteristics. Ask for clear specifications so you can compare models on more than their finish.

Slate and Levelling
Confirm the slate thickness and number of pieces. A multi-piece bed requires careful assembly, joint finishing and levelling. Slate thickness alone does not guarantee a flat playing surface; installation and support are part of the result.
Frame and Support
Ask how the frame supports the slate and how the levelling system works. Frame material matters, but its design and assembly also deserve attention. For commercial use, discuss inspection and maintenance requirements.
Cushions and Pockets
Check the cushion model and pocket measurements. Different pocket configurations can change the difficulty and feel of play. Avoid assuming that a table meets a particular tournament specification unless its measurements have been checked against that standard.
Cloth and Installation
Confirm the cloth brand, model and available colours. Ask what installation includes and how the table will be checked after assembly. Review the warranty separately so you understand which components it covers.
